Requirements
Royal Life Saving Society NSW is not a CRICOS provider; it is unable to provide national training to overseas students holding a student visa.
A medium to high level of aquatic fitness is required for some practical components of the course. Candidates must also be able to perform a range of techniques, including uninterrupted CPR, for an extended period of time, on a resuscitation manikin placed on the floor.
Prerequisites
To enrol in this course‚ you must possess a current Pool Lifeguard qualification and current HLTAID011 Provide First Aid as prerequisites. Please note that HLTAID003 Provide First Aid will be not be suitable as a pre-requisite for this course.
Course Description
The Pool Lifeguard Qualification is valid for 12 months. Refreshing the skills for lifeguards is completed in this one day course.
All candidates are required to successfully complete a range of practical assessments and a theory exam.
Please note: this course requires practical application of Resuscitation that will require kneeling on the floor; a range of first aid practical scenarios; and a range of swimming and rescue application skills.
Candidates need to successfully complete all the practical components under the award conditions in order to renew their licence.

Outcomes
To achieve a Statement of Attainment, candidates must successfully complete the practical components under the award conditions.
Upon successful course completion of the course participants will be issued with a Nationally Recognised Training certificate (Statement of Attainment). Units of Competency achievable through this course include:
- SISCAQU019 – Supervise patron safety in aquatic locations
- SISCAQU020 – Perform water rescues
- SISCAQU021 – Perform complex water rescues
- SISCAQU022 – Provide oxygen resuscitation and therapy in an aquatic environment*
- HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
- An updated Pool Lifeguard Licence
